In higher education, students often face challenges and obstacle in writing
research. Therefore, self-efficacy plays an important role in solving this problem so that
students can achieve success in the writing process. This study aims to find out the level
of students self-efficacy of English Education Batch 2020 in writing research papers.
This research uses mixed methods, quantitative and qualitative. This sample
consists of classes A and B with a total of 51 students and with sampling technique used
purposive sampling. The data collection instrument in this study used a questionnaire
and interviews. Data analysis uses including obtaining, mapping, clustering, analyzing,
elaborating, and presenting the data.
Adopting Bandura's theory, the results showed that the average level of student
self-efficacy was slightly high in the magnitude dimension, slightly high in the
generality dimension and very high in the strength dimension. Furthermore, the
interview results also explain that different levels of students' self-efficacy can affect
their performance in writing research papers.
