Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the
bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease mainly affects the
lungs, but it can also affect other parts of the body such as the kidneys, bones, and brain. Despite the availability of effective treatments, TB
remains one of the major public health problems in many developing
countries, including Indonesia. According to a 2020 WHO report, Indonesia
is among the ten countries with the highest TB burden in the world. Some
of the factors that affect the transmission and treatment of TB include a
lack of knowledge about the disease, social stigma, and a lack of
adherence to treatment. Good knowledge of TB is essential to prevent
transmission, recognize symptoms early, and ensure adherence to
treatment. Objective: The general purpose of this study is to increase the
knowledge of tuberculosis (TB) patients about tuberculosis disease
through a small group discussion method at the Gang Sehat Health Center
Pontianak. Methods: this study is a qualitative research with a case study
approach strategy. Data collection was carried out through research and
questionnaire sheets involving 2 participants, namely patients with
tuberculosis. Results: In this study, it was found that patients and families
can experience increased knowledge with small group discussion media.
